We have had a very successful November starting our annual Dinner and Dance to celebrate our 38th Anniversary where both our current President and last year’s President were awarded Melvyn Jones Fellowships for their exceptional service to our local communities.
A week later a Peace Poster that won one of our heats of the International Peace Poster Competition actually won the East Anglian Heat and then at the end of the month we heard that it had also won the UK Final. Well Done to Mia Reed, a student at Manningtree High School, and her poster now goes to the Grand Final where winning posters from around the world compete for the final prize.
The same day, the East Anglian District held their heat of the Young Ambassador Competition for teenagers who are working within their communities. Our candidate, Charlie Latimer Camilleri, was declared the winner and we wish her all the best at the UK Finals. So very well done.
Although, it did not actually happen in November but on 1st December, we held a Quiz Night for the charity of the month for the Chairman of Tendring District Council, our local authority, and this raised £1,249 for “Stoma Awareness”. A great night was had by the 34 teams participating and the amount raised was a record breaking amount.
Now we are running our Christmas Collections with Father Christmas – see the Calendar for dates and places. More on these later on.
