The work started on Friday when our President, Lion Peter, and our Welfare Chairman, Lion Andrew delivered a car load of items to the Foodbank in Harwich. Then on Friday evening, we ran a Quiz Night for the local branch of Parkinson’s UK and raised £536.80. the winning team were “Bright Sparks”. Finally, on Saturday
A group of 7 Lions and 3 Lions Ladies sorted around 5,600 spectacles for sending off to Lions Sightsavers today. There were also 125 Hearing Aids and around 2000 printer cartridges not to mention numerous designer specs cases; mobile phones and old batteries that have yet to be sorted and numerous bags of rubbish. Pier Ward Forum, which speaks for residents and businesses in Clacton Town Centre, had a problem recently when someone smashed their noticeboard in the town centre and they did not have the funds to replace it. Last Saturday, we had a fund-raising stall at the Great Bentley Village Show on the Village Green, the largest village green in England. Despite a heavy rain shower we raised an excellent £174.70. Now we move on to some indoor fun but not before we enjoy a Cream Tea in our President’s Garden next Sunday.

Having missed last year, we were back taking part in Clacton Carnival’s Procession last night with a float celebrating Lions Clubs International’s centenary and advertising some of our projects. Our President, Lion Peter and his lady, Lynda, were judges prior to the Procession moving off as well. Very well done everyone. On Monday and Thursday
Last Saturday we were invited to take part in the Clacton Fire Station Open Day and we took an awareness stand plus some games that children could enjoy, plus we also took Leo with us. We presented the Fire Station with a Certificate of Appreciation. There are more pictures on our Facebook page.
